My sister recommended this show to me last year.
I only tried watching a teensy bit of an episode but I didn’t like it.
Today I tried watching it again.
I. Love. It.
It’s so good.
Every once in a while J comes out of his man cave to watch some.
I adore so much about this show.
The only zombie thing I like, or used to like, were the Resident Evil movies.
However, they have started to get weirdy.
I hate The Walking Dead and all that stuff.
iZombie. So good. So so good.
The general idea.
The fact that it isn’t a gross flesh eating TV show.
They are dead, but not dead.
It’s still on, so if you’re looking for a good, not horrendously violent show, try it.
I beg of you.
Also fun, Lucifer.
Justin recently had a birthday. I will spare him and not release his age online. Muahaha.
They recently got an office pet at his job and he got to spend some time with her.
He tried to torture me by taking the tape off the wrapping paper just to make it last longer.
It did not work.
When he came home from work, he played some WoW while I cleaned the apartment.
Which meant I got to jam out with my headphones in to this beauty…
I recently talked to an old friend of mine from grade school. We weren’t just friends, we were BEST FRIENDS. You know the kind I’m talking about. Sleepovers, dressing alike, secrets, everything. We went our separate ways during high school and after and only recently have we been in touch with each other.
She is also a blogger and I am so very excited to start following her new blog when she gets it up and running. During our conversation, she happened to call me Smiley Martin, a name I haven’t heard in a very long time.
I have a hard time remembering, but apparently I was a very happy child. Our P.E. coach gave me the nickname of Smiley Martin and it stuck.
During the dark time I had, I completely forgot about it until she called me that. It makes me happy to remember that. I feel like I am finally starting to become my old (young) self, just…improved, and matured (only a little).
A smile is contagious, so why would you not want to smile?
Smile for no reason, and give someone else a reason to smile.
It feels so good, so very good to smile. Even if I’m having a bad day, if I can just smile it gets a little better.
I am so grateful to that old friend for reminding me of that.
So thank you.
-Smiley Martin 🙂
Today we went to J’s parents house to wash and wax the car. On the way there Justin gave me a tour of some places he went as a high schooler and we checked out the old family homestead. We took the back roads to his parents after that and we found a road with a sign.
Minimum Maintenance Road. Travel At Your Own Risk.
It sounded very promising. So we went down it, of course!
It was a little rough. Or a lot rough. Either way. It wasn’t good. Then it just ended. So we had to turn around and go BACK down it again.
We did finally make it there for a late brunch and then we washed and waxed the car.
His dad has lots of fancy car washing things.
They also have a pond in the back yard with some fish that they cover with a net every fall. Apparently they vacuum out all the bad algae stuff before hand. I have never seen someone vacuum a pond before. It was interesting.
I’m just glad that i still half 1 1/2 days of vacation left. Thank God for holidays!
On Saturday we went to Topeka with Matt and Aubrey for a movie and dinner. After surviving all the construction, we luckily made it to see The Magnificent Seven right when it started. Whew!
We went to Red Lobster for dinner afterwards and while waiting outside for our table, we had an even better show than the movie. Traffic in the parking lot was horrendous. Then, there was a van who couldn’t figure out how to park in between the lines. Which means that when another van tried to pull in to the next spot, there was a wee bit of scratching!
One of the vehicles on the other side left so the van that did the scratching backed up and moved into the next spot. It was great. Oh man. Then this young man (boy?) climbed out and just casually strolled inside without a care in the world.
Luckily, i had some paper and a pen with me so Aubrey wrote a note and left it on the windshield of the poor scratched vehicle. Our good deed for the day!
Stay classy friends.
One more thing.
We are on vacation right now, or technically, a stay-cation.
We didn’t go anywhere spectacular.
We are just staying home, doing things we never actually have time for, or things we don’t want to make time for on a daily basis.
I worked a half day, out at noon, on Wednesday. However, it was a GREAT half day. I was offered a position in Loan Ops that I had applied for, but wasn’t sure if I would be able to get. At the bank, you have to be with the company for 6 months before you can transfer departments but since I had previous banking experience they decided to let me interview. Yay! I start my new job on the 20th, hopefully. Other than that, I went home and did laundry, dishes, housework to get ready. I read that for stay-cations you should complete all chores before you begin so you won’t want to do anything like that during your vacation. So far, so good.
I finished the series Friends again. I have been watching it for the past month or two and I am finally. done.
We also tried to play a game of kickball, but the weather was horrendous. It was windy, and cold. However, both teams were missing a player so it was a double forfeit and we ended up just scrimmaging for only about 10 minutes.
I learned how to golf this afternoon. We both had patience. It was actually a good time.
(That’s my clubs and my power stance)
Tonight we invited Justin’s brother Jason over for some homemade Chinese food. I told him we would be eating around 7. We didn’t end up eating until 9. Wow, Chinese food takes a while to make. The chicken was good, but not great. The Crab Rangoon however, MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The recipe for the Crab Rangoon was taken from about 3 different websites.
And, that’s pretty much been it.
It’s been nice.
